Army Veteran No Longer Homeless After Gift of Rent-Free Apartment
24-Year Veteran Given New Home at Luxurious 3737 Chestnut Apartments
GREENBELT, Md. – January 29, 2016 – While most people celebrated the holidays in a warm home surrounded by family and friends, 24-year Army veteran, Clara, spent the season in her car. But today, through the generosity of Radnor Property Group and Bozzuto, Clara, who asked that her last name not be made public, now has a place to call home after receiving one year of free rent.
On January 26, she moved into her new apartment at 3737 Chestnut, managed by Bozzuto and owned and developed by Radnor Property Group, located in the University City neighborhood of Philadelphia. Bozzuto and Radnor Property Group held a ribbon cutting ceremony to present her with the brand new, luxury apartment.
Tears of joy sprang to Clara’s eyes as she entered the apartment for the very first time. “Oh my goodness!” Clara repeated over and over, as she put a hand to her chest. She marveled at the fully furnished apartment, taking in each space with a sense of disbelief. “It means so much to have a place to call home,” said Clara. “I can really start anew here.”
Clara fell upon hard times after completing her military service in the Army. Bozzuto and Radnor Property Group worked with Community Hope, a non-profit organization that provides emergency housing for homeless veterans, to provide the best possible home for Clara. In June, Community Hope opened its first Philadelphia “Hope For Veterans” home, where Clara was able to stay prior to moving into 3737 Chestnut.
AFR Furniture Rental provided housewares and furnishings, and fully stocked the kitchen with groceries. Local dry cleaner Got Laundry? offered Clara three months of complimentary laundry and dry-cleaning services.
“We’re honored to be able to provide Clara with the extra boost she needs to succeed in her transition back into civilian life,” said David Yeager, president, Radnor Property Group. “She has great goals in mind, and we are proud to show our support to one of our veterans who sacrificed so much in service to our county.”
“We are fortunate to work with some truly outstanding clients in our management division,” said Doreen Trongone-Ciezki, regional vice president, Bozzuto. “Dave and Radnor Property Group truly went above and beyond in this circumstance, giving Clara not only a home, but hope for the future. We are proud to help those who have given their all in service to our country. Thank you Clara and welcome home.”
